Now that he’s abandoned his church, maybe next Obama will leave his wife

By docweasel

“a cultural and a stylistic gap”, exemplified by the fact that in most white churches, they don’t use racist hate-speech to demean and denounce other races. According to most black ministers, they don’t in most black churches either. However, let’s MoveOn.

Now that Obama has left his church, maybe he’ll have to jettison his next inconvenient association. According to Larry Johnson at No Quarter, the Michelle “whitey vid” does exist.

It will be interesting to see how Obama spins this.

New and dramatic developments. This is a heads up. I’ll post the news Monday morning by 0900 hours. Now I know why people who have seen the videotape say it is stunning. Barack’s headaches are only starting.

Obama spun the whole Trinity thing that it was merely a cultural thang, and that whitey doesn’t understand the dynamics of black churches, where apparently ignorant white peckerwood rednecks just don’t understand the whole black trope of accusing every white person of being a racist scumbag by dint of their skin color, kind of contradictory and ironic, but there you have it.

All of which is odd, since black ministers themselves pretty much denounce Wright’s unique brand of hatred, and in fact call it uniquely different from anything the themselves have preached.

Last Friday, in an effort to gauge just how “out there” Wright’s sermons are in the context of the African-American church tradition, Newsweek phoned at least two dozen of the country’s most prominent and thoughtful African-American scholars and pastors, representing a wide range of denominations and points of view. Not one person would say that Wright had crossed any kind of significant line.

“An effort on the part of Christians–both clergy and laypersons–to critique the United States in light of what they understand as biblically based moral and ethical guidelines isn’t new,” explains Anthony Pinn, a professor of religious studies at Rice University. “There is a dominant style in black churches and Rev. Wright’s preaching is a prime example of this. . . . Some of what Rev. Wright says is controversial, but that doesn’t make him unique.”

The Rev. James Forbes, the recently retired longtime pastor of Riverside Church on Manhattan’s Upper West Side explained that, broadly speaking, there has been a historical division in the world of black churches. One group thinks you should work hard, keep quiet and get ahead; the other thinks that you need to agitate and provoke to make progress. Forbes puts himself in the first camp but supports Wright’s efforts. “Some of us wish we had the nerve that Jeremiah had,” he said. “We praise God that he’s saying it, so the rest of us don’t have to.” Does Wright ever cross a line? “I think if a person is a prophet and he’s not seen as ever crossing a line, then he has not told the truth as it ought to be told.”

So basically, Obama is full of shit with trying to blame Trinity’s problems and his own on the fact that white people are too stupid to realize what blacks are on about. Its always someone else’s fault with Obama, and mostly the white peoples’ fault. Which is inconvenient when you’re trying to get votes from white people, who aren’t all rich, college educated and full of white guilt.

This Michelle thing is going to be just fun as all get out. The press has been helpfully explaining and excusing every Obama gaffe and misstep, but the public has not been buying it, and even the Democrats know it. The polls should have the Democrat far ahead, with all the baggage the Republican party is carrying these days, but unfortunately for the Dems, that Dem is Obama and fortunately for the GOP their candidate is the one Republican of high stature in the country who is least associated with Bush.

Its probably not a coincidence that whoever is holding this vid is waiting until Obama is irrevocably cast as the Democrat candidate before they release it, because its looking like Hillary! would be a tough nut to beat in November, otherwise. The country is inclined to vote for any Dem who isn’t Obama, with or without the black vote, which is always over-emphasized.

Now that Obama is poised to launch his campaign Tuesday, what better day to release the Michelle/whitey vid for maximum exposure and effect?

Lots of scuttlebutt about the Michelle Obama “I Hate Whitey” vid, here here here here here and here plus here, but I guess we have to wait until Monday 900 hours for the real dope.

Johnson has talked about this tape in the past, and its always turned out to be bunk:

We are down to the wire in the democrat presidential nomination process and the Clinton’s desperately need to derail the Obama-Express. In what looks like another Foleygate smear job Larry Johnson, big Clinton fanatic and your basic political hitman, has re-affirmed the existence of a video where Michelle Obama rails against “whitey”:

I am not sorry that folks are disquieted by my report that Republicans have a videotape of Michelle doing a rant on white people. This is not a work of creative fiction on my part. I have it solid from four separate sources–one of whom is a prominent person who also happens to be an Obama supporter. Two of the people I have spoken with–one a Republican and one a Democrate–have spoken directly to people who have seen the tape.

[…]

The only issue now is whether or not the right wing Republicans who hate John McCain will succeed in getting their hands on the tape before the Democratic Convention. Why? They want to stop Barack because they are certain McCain will trounce Mr. Obama in the fall. They would rather take their chances with Hillary. Sounds convoluted but I have impeccable sources that the Republican billionaire has put out a bounty to get the tape.

Emphasis mine.  When the dust cleared on Foleygate it was learned that many of the emails from Foley, which were suggestive (but nothing like the original rumors), where leaked by Democratic staffers and shopped around to the press by democrat political hatchet types.  The facts the entire mess was a political hit job was not enough to stem the damage done to Foley (who I could care less about).  It was a classic dirty trick for the gullible liberal media.

What is interesting is how this Michelle Obama rumor has all the tell tale marks of democrat dirty tricks, including the insinuation that republicans are behind the entire mess.  Fact is Johnson has tipped his hand on where this is coming from again.  As I emphasized someone shopped the video around – enough so both GOP and Democrat leaders have knowledge of this tape.  For an October surprise this ticking bombshell is way too well known.

Does the tape exist?  Who knows.  What is clear is only Clinton needs this tape out now.  The far right has much easier ways to derail McCain if they want to.  They could simply publicly stab him in the back, as they did Bush, and watch McCain’s base disappear.  They simply can hold off donations – which clearly is not happening.  There is no need for something this crude and crazy to give the presidency to either democrat.

That leaves Clinton as the prime beneficiary of such a bombshell (or whisper campaign) coming right now. The Clintons are expert at hiding their tracks, and using a firebrand, ex-CIA, nut case like Johnson is one way to hide their fingerprints.  Johnson is willing to do anything for causes he believes in, so this is not beyond his capacity by a long shot.  Only time will tell if anyone will know the truth about the video, and the true motivations of those publicizing the existence of this mythical political a-bomb.

My two previous posts on this matter can be found here and here.

Addendum:  I should note that I don’t think a video as damning as Johnson’s whisper campaign exists.  If there is a video it is not as strong as hinted. Michelle could be simply recalling what she heard someone else saying as she grew up, or something.   It could be a lot of things that when looked at in full context wouldn’t bother anyone.  That’s why the video is not out and why it is left to the scum of the Earth to whisper about it and let people’s imagination do the dirty work for the scum.  Classic propaganda ploy.  My two cents.

What it boils down to is that the very idea of such a tape drives Democrats bat-shit insane, but it would probably have limited effect in the long run. Everyone already knows Obama and his family are far-left idealogues, and that doesn’t bother the leftist wing of the Democrat party. The damage that worldview has the capacity to cause has already been done, and it will most likely sink Obama in the fall.

I now have it from two three sources close to senior Republicans that they have video dynamite–Michelle Obama railing against “whitey” at Jeremiah Wright’s church. Republicans may have a lousy record when it comes to the economy and the management of the war in Iraq, but they are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. Someone took the chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright’s United Church of Christ. Holy smoke!! I am told there is a clip that is being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barack and Michelle need is a new clip that raises further questions about her judgment and temperament. [snip]

When the ugly video tapes about Jeremiah Wright’s racist ravings first broke Barack Obama told us he could no more disown Jeremiah Wright than his own Grandmother. Well, we all know how that turned out. So will Barack stand by Michelle when the tape emerges of her verbally attacking “whitey?” Republicans, who are otherwise gloomy about prospects in November, recognize that this recording will create real problems for Barack and give them a shot at the White House. It is their October surprise.

Does Barack have an obligation to tell the Democrats, super delegates in particular, about this tape? Did Barack and his campaign do their basic homework and identify this tape as a potential problem? And, more importantly, do they have a copy? Probably better to deal with this issue before the convention rather than wait for October. What do you think?

What the vid would do is take Obama seriously off-message and take up a lot of oxygen in the MSM and in the blogland as the right castigates him and the left dismisses the issue as an non-one and castigates the right in turn for drawing attention to it. One of the funniest defenses of Obama about the Wright affair was the canard “well, Wright is not running for president”- as if the left hasn’t pioneered the “guilt by association” ploy for decades.

And Pat Robertson and The Moral Majority smear against every Republican since Lincoln is the most common leftist trope there is, with much less credibility and connexion with the actual GOP candidate- none of them attended Jerry Falwell’s church every Sunday for 20 years, even if the leftists try to make a claim any conservative minister has spouted the sewage Wright or his minions have, which they have not.
